Ecotherapy

Ecotherapy is the practice of incorporating nature into a structured therapeutic approach. Nature is part of the treatment, and we implement it through conducting our sessions outdoors and using nature as a safe learning environment. Ecotherapy sessions happen on the Terry Hershey Trail right by my office, on my balcony overlooking it, or at a nature sanctuary in West Houston. I offer individual and group ecotherapy sessions, as well as adventure therapy intensives and retreats.

Walk and Talk

Walk and Talk Therapy, can be a great option for those who dread sitting on a couch and making extended eye contact. Walking and Talking provides a number of benefits that can support your therapy:

Less Clinical

With ecotherapy, there is less intense eye contact. Walk and Talk Therapy feels like a more “normal” conversation.

Good for the Brain

Walking stimulates your brain in a way that promotes neuro-plasticity and a calm mood.

Good for the Body

We really don’t get enough Vitamin D and fresh air.

Peace

A break from the hustle and bustle of an urban environment to fully sink into nature.

Mindful Movement

An opportunity to move your body gently, without the intention of exercise or “getting your steps in.”

  • A Walk and Talk session may just look like two people enjoying the outdoors, but meeting in a public place does come with its differences. We will discuss a game plan in the event either of us sees someone we know. I will do everything I can to protect your confidentiality.

  • 50-minute sessions are conducted on the trail, at the nature sanctuary, or on the balcony of my office. If you’d like to visit a different location, let’s talk about a longer session or an intensive. Half day intensives take place at state parks within 2 hours of Houston. Intensives are designed specifically to your unique needs and treatment.
